Morib Beach Daytrip.....

It was the Christmas holiday and we were having lunch at a food court in a hypermarket in Selayang when my wife suddenly said "Let's go to a beach !". Port Dickson automatically comes to mind as that is the nearest beach  from Kuala Lumpur. Wait, we're forgetting another beach which was about 86Km from where we were at. "Let's go there then...", said my wife and my son was excited as well. He has never been to Morib.

And so we set out to Morib at about 4pm.Going through DUKE highway, New Klang Valley Expressway, Kesas and the Klang -Banting road towards Morib Beach.  Having exited the highway, we continued our journey through the state road passing towns of Banting, Telok Panglima Garang, Telok Datok, Kanchong Darat etc. It was already about 5.30 pm when we finally reached the Morib Beach.

Morib Beach is quite historically significant because it was the first noted landing site on the west coast for the British and Indian Army liberation forces during the 2nd World War. Morib might not have the best beach but still with the recent facelift to it, it is still a place worth going to for weekend retreats.

Morib Beach itself does not have a beach that you can swim in. If you prefer swimming then I would suggest the beaches  which is nearby (next to Morib Beach). Morib Beach itself has been developed. Still, it is relaxing to walk along the walkways that was once a beach that had been banked up as part of the Morib Beach development project. Children and adults alike can be seen playing kites as the wind was quite strong. There were peddlars sellling toys especially kites of all sizes and shapes. Food could also be found at the food court area. When we were there, a Farmer's Market (Pasar Tani) was being held showcasing products by the small and medium entreprises (SME). A roadshow by Selangor FM, a local radio station was also set-up to entertain those who comes to Morib Beach.

If you're thinking of spending the night in Morib, your choices of hotels are not that many. I noted most villages within the vicinity had set-up homestays that you could rent. One hotel that we checked out was the Impian Morib, a 3-star hotel but worth spending RM155 for a Superior room (weekdays, weekends RM180). They also have chalets which would comfortably accomodate a family of four (or more !). Another upcoming project is the Morib Gold Coast Resort. At this point, construction is under way.

Impian Morib Hotel has one of the largest pool I've seen for a 3-star hotel..

Impian Morib Hotel does not have a beach to swim in. It is bordered by steep embankment.
Though this was only a daytrip, my wife and I would be planning to come again to Morib and stay at the Impian Morib Hotel soon.
