Our Travelogue....

Thank you for visiting our travelogue site....

My wife, Zarina and I are very fond of travelling. At this point most of our travels are within Malaysia. In the future, we would be planning to travel across countries outside of Malaysia though....

Malaysia itself has too much to offer. We ourself are not sure whether we can savour every bits and pieces that Malaysia can offer visitors local or foreign alike. What we wish to share in our travelogue are the experiences that we had while visiting many places within the country. We will try to briefly review places of interest that we have been to, hotels that we have stayed in and shopping experiences and local eateries and hope it would be a guide to would-be visitors.

Over the years we have been to many, many places but only now that we have decided to create a blog and venture into the world of blogging to share experiences of our travels and experiences together. Yes, we may not only touch on travels but both local and international issues that we think is worth mentioning our views and blogging about.

We welcome your comments or questions. Both of us will make every effort to give an unbiased views and answers to your comments. Whatever your views and comments would be, my wife and I truly hoped that our travelogue would benefit the travellers and visitors to Malaysia....

Thank you

Nazri & Zarina....

S Boutique Hotel, Ipoh, Perak - December 2015

S Boutique Hotel

Over the years we have seen a boom in the hotelier business. Dozens of budget hotels and 1 to 2 stars hotels blooms like mushrooms after the rain. We had decided to give these hotels a try.

Well, here we are at the S Boutique Hotel over in Canning Industrial Estate off Jalan Raja Hilir in Ipoh which was opened about 3 months ago with 24 rooms. It is located on Jalah Raja DiHilir next to a Buddhist Temple, the Wat Siribunya Manggarama. Within the vicinity are a few more hotels namely the Tambun Inn, iGarden etc. Next door is a Petronas Station where you can easily get snacks, drinks and tidbits.

The hotel is actually a shoplot as many other budget and lower than 3 stars hotels are. S Boutique Hotel is located on the 2nd floor of the corner lot. At the time we checked in, there was ample parking space but I would reckon that after all premises has been occupied, most probably parking especially on a working day could be a problem. There is a lift provided, as such you would not need to climb up the stairs.

Upon reaching the 2nd floor, were quite taken in by the decor of the lobby and reception area. The receptionist was friendly and efficient making checking in not a problem at all.

We were given room 303. Wifi is provided (please check with the reception for the password) but don’t raise your hope too much as I could not get a decent connection in fact, I could not connect at all.

The room was not that spacious but nevertheless, it is tastefully decorated. Fully carpeted room with built in TV panelling and counter/dresser and a safe deposit box, coffee and tea making facilities. The room lack of a wardrobe and you would have to hang your clothes "open air" beside the dressing table above the tea/coffee making facility.

The other thing is that the room that we were in has a spacious balcony. One thing to note is that the hotel offers no breakfast.

All in all, if you’re looking for a decent 2 star hotel for the night,  I would recommend you to check out S Boutique Hotel. Published room rates starts from RM108 to RM388 but I would advise you to book online to get a cheaper deals.

Before we head back to Kuala Lumpur, my wife decided to make a quick stop at Lumut, Perak which is famous for it's beaches and marine products. We went to Teluk Batik beach and Lumut Waterfront complex. Here, you can find varieties of marine products such as anchovies (essential in most Malaysian dishes) and salted fish.

On the way to Lumut, you will pass the town of Manjung which is a growing township. The latest addition is the AEON Shopping Mall.

It has developed a lot since the last time we were here. This is good since development of towns like this will increase tourism into the area.

Why am I wearing raincoat?? Simply because it was raining.

About 10 minutes after taking this photo, I was soaking wet despite the raincoat...

Below are some of the scenes at the Lumut Waterfront featuring anchovies, salted fish and many more marine products...

Here you are able to find all sorts of anchovies......

.......and salted fish

Lumut also offers a 25 hour budget hotel. (I was wondering too where the extra hour came from?)

Have a good holiday people….

KL Bird Park

The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is well known amongst Malaysians and the world as the "World's largest Free-flight Walk-in Aviary" which is sprawled over a 20.9 acres of land right in the middle of the Lake Gardens (Taman Tasik Perdana). In short, it is the worlds largest bird cage where visitors are able to walk through the lush beautifully and natural landscape with ponds, waterfalls and all. here you can expect to see almost 3,000 birds from about 200 species both local and exotic.

Officially open in 199, it has become one of KL's attractions both to locals and tourist alike. For us, it was quite some time since we went to KL Bird Park. Actually our tickets were bought quite some time ago when we visited the MATTA Fair. They offered a promotional rate and it was much cheaper.

We went there around late morning and brought with us some food too. There is a restaurant called the Hornbill Restaurant and Cafe with both local and western food served. However, it would be much economical to bring your own food. We spent about 4 hours at the park and our daughter (her first time to the park) really enjoyed the free flying birds... Here's some pics from our visit so enjoy..

And before you go home, do stop by at their photo booth where you can take photos with some of the resident birds for RM25.00. It is worth it !
