Morib Beach Revisited....

As promised in our previous blog to Morib beach, we were quite impressed by the oulook of the Impian Morib Hotel, and so here we are on the last day of the year spending the night at the hotel.
The travel from our house in Selayang took us from the Middle Ring Road 2 to the KESAS highway and right through the Maju Expressway.

This is a different route from the road that we took on our earlier visit. We then turn off in State road 81B right to the Banting town. On this trip we passed through towns with peculiar names such as Olak Lempik. The other towns that we passed through are Kanchong Darat, Telok Panglima Garang, Tongkah, Simpang Morib etc...
We reached Impian Morib Hotel at about 3.00 pm. Checking in was a breeze as I had made booking a day earlier. Our Superior room was RM180 (weekend rate) and furnished with 1 queen bed and a single bed (the hotel allows up to 5 pax for the Superior room). This was perfect as my son would have his own bed to sleep in. Our room was at the ground floor and is remarkably spacious. Amenities and clealiness was good. We had selected ASTRO channels and also a mini fridge in the room. The room also has a french window that overlooks the swimming pool area.
The pool was quite big compared to some other hotels that we had been to.

The island cum waterfall in the middle of the pool added to the impressive poolside. The whole evening was spent by the poolside as my son really loves swimming and frolicking in the pool with his newly-found friends !
When you're in Morib, food would mainly consists of "Tom Yam and Seafood" Restaurant. Tom Yam refers to a dish made famous by the Thais. We drove about 9Km to Kanchong Darat to have dinner at the most packed restaurant there - The Juvita Tom Yam and Seafood Restaurant. Lots of both local and outsiders visiting Morib flocked the restaurant. It has a variety of fish, large squids, large prawns and other marine delicacies ready to be hand-picked. You could also request the items to be specially cooked to your favourite dish. Grilled is of course the best choice especially for the fish. We opted for the squids, "Tenggiri" fish and Fried Kai Lan ( a type of vegetable).

When you're in Kanchong Darat, locals might remember the Sidek brothers, Malaysia's famous badminton world class players. Just my luck that on the very same night, Rashid Sidek was just at the next table to us.

It was New Year's Eve and Morib was no exception in welcoming the new year 2011. In Pantai Morib, people flocked to watch stage show organised by the Kuala Langat District Office. The beach walkways itself was buzzing with activities. Food stalls were packed. We proceeded to be with others to welcome the new year. The countdown was started and before you know it, 12 am strucked and it was already 1st January 2011. There were no fireworks much to the disappointment of some, but nevertheless for us it was not a big issue.

Breakfast the next morning was simple but yet commendable. Apart from the bread, butter and jam, there was Nasi Lemak, Fried Koey Teow, Roti Jala and curry, coffee, tea, fruit juices and fresh fruits. Unfortunately their western berakfast is not varied. There were no sausages, baked beans nor wedges. However, they do have a chef mending a stall that would make you omelette on demand.  Children of between 4 to 11 years of age are charged half the adult rate of RM15.50.

I find this set-up very pleasing to the eye....
After breakfast, we're back at the poolside as my son demanded another "time to dip" in the swimming pool which lasted almost 2 hours !
Relaxing by the pool..what a life !

As we packed our bags, I told my wife that we would definitely come again to Impian Morib in the future. We would put this hotel as one of the "preferred" hotel in our list. We find most to our satisfaction. Checking out was also simple and without a fuss. The staffs of the front office were quite efficient and we were checked out in just below 3 minutes.

A last pose at the Impian Morib entrance before departing
back to Kuala Lumpur.

As we were heading back to KL, again we passed by Kanchong Darat and that reminds us to buy some souvenirs for our neighbours back in KL. This time it's not fridge magnets or the likes but varieties of chips and crackers. Yes, the area is quite famous for it's potato chips and crackers. The outlet of Fazz Products of chips and crackers has been around since 1983. To reach its distribution center, you would have to drive a about 1 Km from the main road. Once there you'd see bundles upon bundles and packets upon packets of chips and crackers. The price tags are attractive as they are much cheaper here than in big towns such as KL.

Last but not least, we stopped by "The Store" shopping complex in Banting for lunch at KFC. After lunch we had a short walk for a few blocks to check out what Banting had to offer visitors. One thing that was abundant are the textile shops selling all sorts of clothings and bags....

All in all, we had a relaxing time in Morib. Celebrating the coming of the New Year 2011 was a totally different experience which left quite a memory for my wife, son and yours truly....
