Tanjung Malim Oct 2012...

Since my wife started continuing her studies earlier this year, we have been frequenting the town of Tanjung Malim in Perak. Tanjung Malim is situated about an hours drive from Kuala Lumpur via the North-South Expressways. One of the few famous attractions in Tanjung Malim is not it's places of interest but the "pau" or steamed bun with wide assortment of fillings. The famous  Yik Mun Pau are the most famous in Perak. The shop is located at Jalan Slim River in Tanjung Malim. It is at the junction from Kuala Lumpur -Ipoh main road and the road leading to Tanjung Malim town and the road heading to Proton City..

Tanjung Malim is also scattered with budget hotels such as the Sahara Inn Hotel, Hotel Twin Star,  Hotel Cahaya, Hotel Bunga Raya and Tanjung Malim Budget Hotel. We will update the blogs on some of the other hotels in our future blogs. Recently 2 more hotel came up, the Sri Malim Hotel (budget) and the LP Hotel which is a boutique hotel as the owners Mr Tony and Ms Lee puts it. Well yes, this time around we booked a room at the LP Hotel. During our last visit to Tanjung Malim, we have surveyed this hotel and the front office staff was obliging enough for us to take a tour of all the rooms with different configurations.

Yes, the rooms and the hotel itself is very tastefully decorated and it definitely does not look like a budget hotel at all. No wonder the owners Mr Tony and Ms Lee rather call it a boutique hotel. When we checked in, we were fortunate enough to have met the owners and had a chat with them while being processed to check in. They were very friendly right up to the son, Jarred (I hope I get your name right !) who accompanied us up to the room. Even to my surprised, Mr Tony himself offered to help carry our bags right up to the 2nd floor...  

All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel if you decide to stay in Tanjung Malim. We would definitely look into staying here again on our future visits to Tanjung Malim..

Lumut and Pulau Pangkor

We had stayed at the Pangkor Swiss Garden Resort and the above are the views of the apartment that we stayed in. As you can see, the apartment is really big for the 3 of us. It would certainly fit a large group of family if you bring along travel mattresses...

Long overdue post....

Wow ! How time flies,,,it has been more than a year since I have updated this blog of ours....
I'm sorry to visitors who have been coming to this blog and be disappointed that  there were no new entries since June 2011. Well, be rest assured that I am aiming to reactivate postings to our  travel blog from now on.

Well a lot has been happening ever since June 2011.... we have been to a few places but I don't just seem to be able to find the time to post them on this page. The most important event this year for me is the birth of our daughter Izara Damia Aishah on July 2nd 2012. Now she is really a bundle of joy.....

Yup, she is a real chubby girl, born weighing 3.4 Kg now after 3 months she is 7.3Kg......

Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan Morib

On this trip to Morib, we had decided to try out the "Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan" which is managed by the Property Management Section of the Prime Minister's Department. If you are a government servant you'd be eligible to stay at this nice place. Beside this one in Morib, there are other similar ones in Cameron Highlands, Port Dickson, Bukit Fraser and Tasik Kenyir...It only cost RM50 a night to rent out a nice and cozy 2-bedroom chalet which is a real bargain.

Historical Melaka May 2011

Melaka has been one of our favourite place to visit. Melaka being the nicknamed the Historic City in Malaysia is bestowed the World Heritage City by UNESCO in  July 2008. Here's a bit about the history of Melaka that I was able to pick up from the world wide web....

 

Port Dickson 13th March 2011

It has been quite a while since we visited Port Dickson. The last time we were in Port Dickson was sometime in June 2010. We stayed at Le Paris Hotel then. This time though we wanted to try out another hotel cum resort. We made booking for the Bayu Beach Resort about a week earlier.

Port Dickson is located in Negeri Sembilan (The Land of Nine) and located about 34Km from Seremban, the capital. Driving from Kuala Lumpur takes about 1 1/2 hours drive and it is basically a favourite spot amongst those staying in the West part of the Peninsular. The place boasts of 18Km of sandy white beaches. Here's a bit of history of Port Dickson that I picked up from the internet :

MATTA Fair March 2011....

MATTA FAIR 2011 held at Putra World Trade Centre is held from 11th till 13th March 2011. As usual, we arrived at the venue around 10am and already people were flocking the entrance. Each visitor is charged RM3.00 for adults and free for children below the age of 12. Upon paying the entry fee, you'd be provided with a bag that would be useful to hold all the pamphlets and hand-outs which you received as you walk from booth to booth.
